Sinds de mens van de boom van kennis van goed en kwaad heeft gegeten en hij de kennis van het leven – het bewustzijn dat alles één is – verloren is, beschikt hij over sprookjes en mythen die in symbolische taal de weg terug naar het bewustzijn van één zijn wijzen.

Sprookjes spreken tot ons bewustzijn in de vorm van symbolen. Het probleem is dat ons huidige bewustzijn zo concreet-materieel is ingesteld, dat we de symbolische betekenis van sprookjes vaak niet meer herkennen. Sprookjes worden zo vaak afgedaan als ‘fantastische vertellingen’ of ‘kinderverhaaltjes’. Hierdoor gaat veel wijsheid verloren – wijsheid die het zicht op de betekenis van het leven, en de rol van de mens hierin, kan herstellen.
